Use of Cast Saw Injury Protection System to Teach Safe Cast Removal
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cast saw injuries are a significant risk of morbidity for our patients and can result in pain, and scarring and in some cases lead to litigation. In order to prevent injury to patients and to better train residents in cast removal, we developed the Cast Saw Injury Protection System (CSIPS). This manuscript and the associated video demonstrate the ability of this system to decrease injury and to train residents and ancillary medical staff in the safe removal of casts.
